Chicago Women's Park and Gardens

Posted on 11:54 AM by babli panday

Chicago Women's Park and Gardens ..
Address: 1800 West Prairie Avenue ..
Opened: 2000
Designed by Chicago landscape architect Mimi McKay and architect Tanny Langdon in 1999.
This 4-acre park park was created to pay tribute to important women in the history of Chicago..
It was formerly named after Hillary Rodham Clinton, who grew up in suburban Park Ridge and dedicated the park in 1997..

This tree is in memory of eight women who dies in a bus accident.I couldnt find much information on this..
The plaque reads ...
In memory of our eight friends ..
We will never forget you ..
October 1, 2003 ..
IWA International Womens Associates

The centerpiece of the park is this founatin, named..
Botanical Gardens Fountain..
by Robinson Iron.
It has a shallow copper-coated cast iron urn that gently drips water into lower basin.
Robinson Iron also created:
- Children's Fountain in Linclon Park
- Gurgoyle Founatin in Wicker Park
- Chicago Botanical Garden in Marino Park

This park harbors Chicago’s oldest house, the Clarke House Museum, built in 1836 ..
